During the Fall 2018 season, the Mighty Wharthogs were Champions of both Hogfest and Fall Brawl going undefeated against all MBA and Graduate School Clubs. Additionally, the Hogs won multiple matches against local men’s clubs and only lost one match - a truly tough one - to Philadelphia-Whitemarsh RFC.
The Hogs began their Spring 2019 season with a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Tony Flay and Grant Keenan from the Crusaders International High Performance Unit visited Wharton in late January and provided a full day training session. This was a great start to the season and set expectations high. The Hogs played matches against the Jersey Shore Sharks, the Philadelphia Gryphons, and the Northeast Philadelphia Irish and were successful in each match. Additionally, the Hogs traveled to South Africa, where they played against local teams, attended an international match, swam with sharks, toured a winery, and hiked Table Mountain.
The Hogs concluded their Spring 2019 season with a trip to the MBA World Cup, hosted by Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. The Hogs brought two sides to the tournament and each side played multiple matches in pool play. The top side advanced to the knockout rounds where they successfully vanquished Columbia Business School before falling to London Business School in the Championship Match. It was a hard fought tournament and the following social was top notch. Wharton RFC appreciates the hard work and dedication displayed by the organizers and looks forward to competing for the championship trophy in 2020!
